Introducing The Huayun Arts Group

The Northwest Chinese Alliance warmly welcomes the Huayun Arts Group to be part of the our family of dancers.  This Portland based Chinese arts group was started by Ms. Lihong Dai with a team of 20+ talented dancers.  They will now perform at many Portland Metro community events all through the year.   Annually, they will join the Northwest Chinese Alliance troupe of dancers to perform at the Portland Rose Festival Grand Floral Parades.

For the 2026 Chinese New Year of the Horse, the NWCA Huayun Arts Group have performed at various community events including the 2026 Oregon Lunar New Year Celebration at the Keller Auditorium with a dance named “Imperial Court Dance: Tune of Serenity”.  This dance was inspired by the famous poem “Qing Ping Tune” written by the Tang dynasty poet Li Bai for Lady Yang.

This dance celebrates beauty and elegance through movement and music. In the poem, the peony symbolizes the beloved, expressing grace and deep affection. The performance blends dance, music, and visual artistry.  Dancers in flowing costumes move with elegance and poise, evoking the splendor of the Tang court and the romantic imagery of the verse — “Her robes are like clouds, her face like a flower; the spring breeze brushes the railing, and the dew glistens bright.”

Other recent performances included the “Bing in the New Year” Celebration in Milwaukie, Oregon on Dec 31, 2025.

And at the Chinese Festival at the Portland Pioneer Courthouse Square on August 1, 2025.

The Northwest Chinese Alliance celebrates the addition of the Huayun Arts Group.  We greatly appreciate their contributions to help fulfill our mission to showcase Chinese culture, promote understanding of the traditional Chinese art form, and create goodwill for the Metro Portland and Oregon community.
