A Very Special 2018 Entry

This year’s entry was presented and organized by the Northwest Chinese Alliance with support from many parters and co-organizers.  As our tradition, we held a Celebration/Fundraising Dinner on Sunday June 24, 2018 to show our appreciations:

  • To Celebrate the History & Contributions of Chinese & Chinese Americans in Greater Portland
  • To Show Our Appreciations to Partners, Sponsors, Supporters and Volunteers for their contributions to a very successful Chinese Community Grand Floral Parade entry.
  • And To Highlight Our Collective Efforts and Community Achievements

We enjoyed our keynote Speaker:   The Honorable Mae Yih, Oregon State Senator, Retired with a speech titled “Serving Your Community”

Five copies of Senator Yih’s book “East Meets West” was raffled off during dinner.  Winners will have their pictures taken with the Senator.  Other wonderful raffle prizes included 5 copies of “Chinese History in Oregon” and other wonderful prizes to help our fundraising efforts.

We were very pleased to present a dynamic and cultural rich entry in the 2018 Portland Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade on Saturday, June 9th, 2018 in Portland.

This entry represents major Chinese community undertaking with involvements and support from many major Chinese organizations as well as community members across Metro Portland and the State of Oregon.   This entry includes three different segments: (1) a beautiful floral float, (2) a 50-foot dragon dance by the Portland Lee’s Associations Dragon & Lion Dance Team and community volunteers, and (3) a freshly designed Chinese fan dance performed by dancers from the Chinese Friendship Association of Portland Fitness Team and the Portland Chinese Dance Troupe.
