Rose Festival Performance – June 10, 2023
This was the eleven year we were performing in the Portland Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade. We are very honored to represent the Chinese Community to broaden public awareness and appreciations of traditional Chinese arts and culture with a potential audience of 500,000 along the Portland streets, and more on live TV.
When spring fades into summer, lotus flowers are in bloom. The lotus flowers symbolize grace, elegance, purity, and beauty. They are one of the most significant flowers in Chinese culture. Growing in muddy waters, they are pure, unstained and have long served as symbol of Chinese religion, art and culture.
Our 2023 our Grand Floral Parade dance, “the Lotus Pickers”, showcased the beautiful lotus flowers and the happy and enchanting experiences of the lovely lotus pickers. This year’s performance was planned and overseen by Claudia Chai, our Co-President’ and jointly managed by Claudia Chai and Jennifer Li, our Co-Presidents. It was through their leadership, dedications and hard work, together with the whole performance team, that the Northwest Chinese Alliance was able to deliver another successful performance.
Accompanied with lively, cheerful, and light-hearted music, these young girls are picking lotus flowers in a pond covered with green lotus leaves and dotted with pink lotus flowers. Laughters and chatters ring amidst the blossoms. Through the dancers’ costumes and graceful movements, it is our wish that this performance brings joy and sense of renewals for the citizens of the Greater Portland Metro area.
Celebration Dinner – Sunday, June 25, 2023
During the evening, we recognized our leaders, performers, volunteers and guests for their contributions and support to make this year’s performance another great success. The evening was well attended and we were entertained by our very own talented dancers with their special singing and dancing to add to the festivities of the evening.
We extend our deep appreciations to our leaders, dancers and volunteers for their generous contributions in time, talent and money to make our 2023 performance another great success.
